ATMOSFAR Wasp flying: takeoff, landing & controls

At a glance

Hold G to start the Wasp engine, use Space to rise, then tap G to retract the landing gear. To land, tap G to extend the gear, descend with Ctrl and hold G to stop the engine once grounded.

Take off

Start in a flyable Wasp with fuel available. Enter the pilot seat, then:

  1. Hold G to start the engine. The prompt changes from START ENGINE to STOP ENGINE.
  2. Press Space to rise clear of the landing platform.
  3. Tap G to retract the landing gear. The prompt becomes EXTEND LANDING GEAR.
  4. Use WASD to move away from the platform. Keep enough clearance before accelerating.

Land and stop the engine

  1. Approach a suitable platform and slow down.
  2. Tap G to extend the landing gear. The prompt switches to RETRACT LANDING GEAR.
  3. Use Ctrl to descend onto the platform. Wait until the craft is resting on the ground; the demonstrated landing settles at 0 km/h.
  4. Hold G to stop the engine after landing. START ENGINE means it is off.
  5. Exit the pilot seat when the Wasp is stationary.

Why G can stop your engine

The same key has two actions. A quick tap operates the landing gear; holding it completes the engine toggle. If you hold G while trying to retract the gear, you can stop the engine instead.

Watch the prompt and its hold-progress indicator. If it changes to START ENGINE, restart the engine before trying the short gear input again. This input mix-up is separate from running out of fuel or having a damaged Wasp.

Watch the takeoff and landing sequence.
